Liposomes are the same structure as cell membranes, and naturally form an outer shell around the vitamin C (natural sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid). At a validated size variation of only 370 nanometres, these microscopic, highly structured lipid spheres cross the small intestine, enter the bloodstream and deliver the vitamin C right inside the cells of tissues needing repair, at the same time as they fuse with the cell membrane.

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient and a powerful antioxidant, supporting natural immunity and resistance to allergens. It is necessary for iron absorption, and because it has a vital role in all of the hormones produced by the adrenal glands, it is rapidly used up during stress.

Vitamin C is also needed for collagen formation and wound healing. Collagen helps form connective tissue, so the entire musculo-skeletal system depends on it to stay healthy. The blood vessels and organs also rely on it to maintain their structural integrity.

Vitamin C is safe in high doses because it is a water soluble vitamin that the body self regulates. Nearly all of the vitamin C in Liposomal Vitamin C reaches the cells, maximising the effectiveness of each dose.

What is the ascorbic acid in the Liposomal Vitamin C derived from?

The ascorbic acid in our Liposomal Vitamin C is derived from corn, which comes from China and tests GMO free.

Is it safe to give to my 6 month old?

You can safely give BioBalance Liposomal Vitamin C to your 6 month old but before doing so we would advise talking to a health professional or your midwife.

I’ve heard this before, that vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and is best absorbed in small doses at regular intervals, therefore bigger doses are not necessarily better. Is that true?

Yes, vitamin C is water soluble and its absorption from food or regular powder, tablet or capsule supplements happens via the small intestine and needs an active transport system. Studies have shown that regular doses of no more than 500mg offer best absorption in these cases. However, BioBalance Liposomal Vitamin C is different! Liposomes are the new generation in supplement delivery systems and their advantage is they bypass the digestive tract and transport the vitamin C via the blood directly to cells, without needing an active transport system. They are small enough to pass directly through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream. So, with our Liposomal Vitamin C you can take a 1000mg dose and well over 90% of it will get to the tissues that need it. It’s definitely value for money in terms of absorption rates and effectiveness.

Does the Vit C oxidize and lose its potency once it is exposed to more air in the bottle?

BioBalance Liposomal Vitamin C will retain its integrity for 18 months while still sealed, and then will start to lose vitamin C. Testing has shown that after 24 months, there would be approximately 950 mg per serving instead of 1000 mg. This is the reason for the 18-month expiry date on our liposomal products.
Once the bottle is opened the vitamin C still retains its integrity and is not subject to oxidation (it is an antioxidant). However, it is being exposed to the usual kitchen microbial populations and exposure to these causes a risk of microbial contamination of the liposomal supplement. We suggest 3 months in the refrigerator after opening is a safe length of time.

    I have been taking this product for quite a while now.
    Even when I have been in contact with people who had a cold and flue symptoms I never got it.
    Would recommend it especially to seniors of any age.

    We have been taking this product on and off (off in the summer) for a couple of years, and have not had any colds or flu. My husband is 81 and I am 73 so keeping healthy is really important. I would highly recommend the product.

    The only time I had a cold this year was when I stopped taking this while on holiday. Cold cleared up after a couple of days at home and taking this each morning again. I also find that it is not as sweet tasting if it is stored in the fridge.

    I was really sick a couple of weeks ago. Runny nose, sore throat, mucusy cough… you name it. I was recommended by a naturopath to take this liposomal Vit C. Took two adult doses for two days and felt a LOT better! Sounds magical but it really nips it in the bud just like that. It tastes much better than the other brand in sachets and I also love the fact that it’s palm oil, alcohol free! Thanks BioBalance 🙂

    Super effective vitamin C. It’s kept me well recently I believe and if I feel something coming on I start taking it hourly and it knocks back anything so I recover fast. Tastes fine to simply take it off a spoon so you know you’re getting it all (rather than mixing into a drink).
